Sensitization Session on KP Multisectoral Integrated Nutrition Strategy for Scaling Up Nutrition, Civil Society Alliance (SUN CSA)
The subject orientation session was held under the Chairmanship of Additional Secretary (Planning), Planning & Development Department Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The session was started with the recitation of Holy Quran. After the introduction of the Participants, the Chair welcomed the participants and describe the purpose of the workshop. He said that Nutrition is a multi-dimensional subject that cuts across health, agriculture, food, education, social protection, and other allied sectors. However, over the years nutrition has been considered a health sector subject, now global studies/research suggest that the health sector can contribute to a 20% reduction of malnutrition/stunting if all its nutrition-related specific/direct interventions are implemented at the scale of 90% over a significant time frame (Lancet 2013). So, the remaining 80% relies on other sectors related to the underlying determinants such as agriculture, food, water and sanitation, education, Social Protection, climate change, etc. also called nutrition-sensitive or indirect sectors. He further has highlighted the consequences of malnutrition and its impact on individual, society and economy
After detailed Questions/Answer session Dr. Saba thanked all the participants and partners for their valuable contributions and way forward for effective implementation of Nutrition Agenda. She said that partners insights, dedication, and collaborative spirit have improved our discussions and reinforced our shared commitment to advancing the nutrition agenda. She Specially thanked SUN Unit KP and other key stakeholders and donors for their continuous support
Meeting was ended with a vote of thanks from the Chair.
